Suits polyethylene and acrylic spas. Concrete spas should use pool main drain assemblies Hydrostatic valves are a requirement for all in-ground spas and swimming pools. Whilst pools are always fitted with this valve in the main drain, spas are seldom fitted as their are no specific fittings available such as a small main drain. However, as an Australian Standard, a hydrostatic valve must be fitted when the spa is in contact with the ground. Hydrostatic valves allow water to enter the spa from the ground below when the spa is partially or fully empty, to prevent the ground water pressure from lifting the spa from its position, often breaking pipework and causing leaks. There are thousands of in-ground spa owners who will atteset to the problem of not having this valve - many spas 'pop'  out - this requires complete removal and reinstallation. This fitting incorporates a compact low profile 40mm/50mm hydrostatic valve, and a threaded wall fitting. Hole size required - 72mm, diameter - 95mm, projection into the spa - 22mm. 2"/50mm socket rear. Due to the tripping hazard associated with installation in the floor, we recommend installation horizontally as low as possible to the floor. A very sound investment to protect against expensive spa repairs. Be aware, however, that this valve must be removed and inspected/cleaned each time the spa is drained to ensure no debris, sand, crusher dust, etc. has seated on the seal surface which would cause the spa to drain out when refilled.
